This is a beautiful waterfall found along the Hana coastline. The pool is a clear aqua. I really enjoy the various plants growing on the rocks. There is a wide variety of moss, and red and yellow gingers. Heaven is having a swim!

This was such a beautiful pool on the hike to Waimoku falls. African Tuilip trees were in bloom, adding the contrast of red to the landscape.

Hanakapiai Valley

Hanakapiai is the first valley on the Na Pali trail, Kauai. It is a great 2 mile hike to the stream and beach. This 300 foot waterfall is two miles from the sand.

The clouds moving through the valley, rising and falling were beautiful all by themselves. Suddenly, this Ohi'a lehua was leaning into the valley and silhouetted against the clouds.

I captured this view from a small aircraft. It now depicts the past history of sugar cane being grown at Olowalu. I was inspired by the patterns of clouds across the landscape.

Pipwai Trail goes through the Bamboo forest to Waimoku Falls, Kipahulu National Park. There is a bridge that crosses the stream with this view of the falls. On this clear, bright day, the green tones in the water were especially brilliant and clear.

Waimea Canyon

When I stopped at the canyon, it was obscured by clouds and rain. Suddenly the sun broke through, a rainbow appeared, the canyon was dazzling.

Ho'okipa, Maui

A beautiful moderate windy day at Ho'okipa allowed me to find a sheltered spot and paint. The colors of the water and reefs really get my attention. The sugar cane fields in the mid-ground are part of the only plantation left on Maui. I always enjoy the cloud patterns across the West Maui Mountains, and Molokai in the distance.

This was the area of the first resort development on Maui. Even though the beach has numerous hotels, the sand and ocean remain untouched. There is great snorkeling around Black Rock. Plumeria and hisbiscus blossoms abound. Painted en plein air.
