Michael Clements has been painting with pastels along roadsides and streets, harbors and beaches, pastures and flower farms on Maui for the past few years. His work has been the recipient of several awards. A devoted daily painter, he has developed a sort of obsession with painting outdoors. Neither wind nor rain or household chores can keep him from pursuing this passion.

"Being an artist to me is learning how to see. To see light and color in it's constantly changing states is high drama that gets my heart pounding from the thought that I just might be able to 'catch' it if I can just get set up quickly enough."
