According to Deybra, The Joy of Pain, is, "a collection of tangible emotions." The work in this show is inspired by the artist's accident last year when she severely broke her arm and was unable to paint. "Eight months later, I've chosen a different venue of expressing the loss of the use of my arm" says Deybra. The show contemplates the many issues from which the artist has been recovering. She delves into the pain of her being "broken and depressed, feelings of abandonment, loss of independence, broken-heartedness, loneliness, betrayal, obsession and fear." The show, a combination of mixed media and a uniquely different approach by the artist, reflects Deybra's sense of humor, despite her suffering. |
