PUA LE'I
Suzy Papanikolas, Rebecca Lowell & Debbie Brown
July 21- August 17, 2005

Suzy Papanikolas, best known for her warm depictions of the people of Hawaii and the Pacific Basin in their everyday environments, offers new paintings inspired by her travels in the Cooke Islands as well as the Merrie Monarch Hula celebration. For this exhibit, she includes photographs made during her travels with her thoughts about those experiences. In this vein, she has branched into photocollage of her travel photographs which she combines with abstract painting in new mixed media work.
Rebecca Lowell is showing seascape and landscape paintings in addition to presenting the Hawaii debut of her work in encaustic and "Maui-found" organic elements. She returns to her photography roots with a series of photos celebrating Christmas time mochi making with the Kinaka family of Wailuku- a special treat indeed!
Debbie Brown's light-hearted, tropically inspired ceramics are sure to delight. Drawing on her affinity for our north shore vegetation and visual puns, Brown‚s work is ever-appealing.
