William Rodgers: From Life
June 23 - July 20, 2005
|
Rodgers works from life exclusively and captures the place or the person with a freshness and immediacy that is sure to strike cords of familiarity in most viewers. He works in oil and in a classical tradition, beginning with strong draughtsmanship and observation of light and atmosphere. While his style encourages comparisons with the "old masters", his subject matter is all about what is around us now. His landscapes are clearly referenced with our experiences in this island home and his figure studies are beautifully rendered, sensitive and unidealized.
Please join us at the opening reception in the gallery on June 25 from 6 to 8 pm. William Rodgers will be in the gallery for painting demonstrations from 1 to 4 pm on each Saturday during the exhibit.
