Two Maui artists, both obsessed with a passion for travel, Kathleen MacDonald and Douglas Chun have created a collection of images for a spectacular Travel Show at Viewpoints Gallery.

For this show, Kathy has painted scenes in acrylic of Ukraine, Russia and Turkey where she has recently returned from an extended tour. She has also included other exotic images from her travels as a flight attendant. Douglas has painted a collection of memorable watercolors of his favorite sights from Italy, France, Greece, Turkey and China.

Although presented in two different media in their dissimilar styles, the works exude the same romance that a broad audience would appreciate. This is an opportune time to select something distinctive to remember a trip by, for pampering you and yours for the Holiday Season or perhaps more importantly, a small painting would serve as an incentive to heighten an interest for your next destination...

An Artist's statement from Douglas Chun for this Travel event:
"Some images are so deeply etched in my mind's eye that they haunt me until I have satisfactorily put them on paper.Ê With the help of sketches and photographs, I have recreated these watercolors from different journeys for this show. However, as exhilarating as the discovery of a new place is, I cherish arriving home on Maui the very most. THAT is the ultimate experience for me!" And Kathy heartily agrees.
